On Thursday, February 27, the Linganore High School (LHS) National Honor Society hosted the 2nd Annual Staff vs Students Basketball game.
The game was put together as a fundraiser for the Baker Children who unfortunately lost both of their parents in the fall. There was just over $200 raised for the Baker children’s trust fund. Tickets to this event were sold for $3 a person, and there were over 60 people in attendance. The honors society also set up buckets to collect additional donations to the fund.
The game was very close from start to finish. The star player for the staff was math teacher Joseph Athey, who scored 26 points, the majority of the staff team’s total points. The students were more organized as a team, and everybody did their part. Senior student Josh Arthur made four out of his seven 3-point shot attempts.
With 30 seconds left in the game, social studies teacher Jeb Beaver was at the free throw line with a chance to make the score 43-46. He missed both of his shots, which sealed the 46-41 win for the students.
