On February 13 at 8:50AM, Linganore High School (LHS) students walked out of school in protest of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Although unaffiliated with Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS), “ICE OUT” protests occurred throughout FCPS schools. Each school has a respective Instagram page with information regarding the time and location of the protest at each school.
At LHS, students lead chants and carry signs reading “ICE melts under resistance,” “Las familias merecen estar unidas (Families deserve to be united)” and “Free them all.” The effort was in response to recent mass deportation efforts made by the Trump administration.
Featuring interviews from LHS senior Benjamin Chen, juniors Isabella Engler and Samantha Pantzar and sophomore Joshua Folden, this video follows the event of Linganore’s ICE protest, and highlights students’ opinions on what they are seeing in the United States.
