On February 5, Alex Lambert signed his National Letter of Intent to continue playing football at Claremont Mckenna College (CMC) in Claremont, California. He will be playing NCAA Division III football and entering the school as a member of the Class of 2029.
Lambert began playing football in his sophomore year of high school when he transferred to Linganore High School (LHS). Despite being new to the sport, his coaches saw him as a player with a lot of potential. By his senior year, Lambert became a captain of the LHS football team and was a star defensive tackle (DT).
Lambert’s grandfather Mario Adrien described seeing the coach of another team attempting to so far as avoid Lambert on the field because of his skill. “And whenever he was on the side of it [the play]; he was wreaking havoc,” Adrien said.
With his quick development as a player, schools took interest in him; however, Lambert did his own search to find Claremont Mckenna.
“I was looking for a place that had really good academics and [where] I could also play football at a high level,” Lambert said.
With this priority, as well as a love for the California weather, Lambert reached out to CMC. After visiting the college, he ended up committing there. The school is noted as a high reach school, with a 10 % acceptance rate and 91 % graduation rate.
Lambert’s grandfather is happy with his decision.
“I am very proud of him,” Adrien said. “He’s not only involved in the sport, he’s also very academic oriented … He’s focusing a lot on his studies.”
Lambert is not just a star athletically and academically but also as a person, according to LHS Football Coach Rick Conner.
“He makes us look good in the classroom,” Conner said. “He makes us look good in the hallways. He shines on the football field.”
While Lambert’s coach and family raved about the kind person he is, Lambert expressed his own focus on personal growth.
“[My goals are] just to be able to grow as a player and also develop into the man I want to be,” Lambert said.
Entering CMC in the Fall 2025 semester, Lambert will make his mark. His family noted that they will miss him very much, but at the end of the day, they are proud of his successes and who he has become.
“He’s an athlete,” Conner said. “He’s a gentleman. He’s a scholar.”
