New Market Commons will open its first stores in April.  For years, locals have stared at the dirt piles that would one day be a new shopping center.  The single sign, “Common Soon Asian Bistro” was the only evidence of construction.

Suddenly in the fall, the building became active.  There were workers, sounds of hammering, brick walls, and now, in April, the parking lot is about to be paved, and piles of mulch signal landscaping.

New Market Commons will include, Made You Look Salon & Spa, Verizon Wireless, Pasquale’s, Asian Bistro, and New Market Beer & Wine. The new building has additional empty units for lease. The leasing agent is Kline, Scott Visco.

The owner of  “Made You Look Salon & Spa” said, ” I don’t want a huge grand opening. I want to work out the quirks.”

Neighboring her business is the New Market Beer and Wine store, owned by LHS parents Pam Ward and her husband Jim. They are new to business ownership and decided that Frederick County would be the best place start. They are trying to open the shop on May 11th (Mothers Day), but recently the construction has been pushing opening day back further and further.

Ward said, “Students at Linganore will be able to find employment at our store, the restaurants, the hair salon and more.  They will also have some great restaurants to meet up with friends.  I know they will enjoy being out on the patio at Pasquale’s Italian Restaurant.”

Pasquale’s  is opening their second location.  The first is in Frederick on Rt. 26.

Ward said, “We have heard nothing but positive feedback from friends and neighbors all over Frederick County when we told them about New Market Beer and Wine.”
