Great ways to spend your fall season this year

The Fall season introduces not only warm drinks and apple pie, but many fun festivities for teens looking for adventure. Why not invite some of your friends to a haunted house one night this month or take your little sibling to a nearby pumpkin patch? Check out some of the seasonal activities that can be found in your neck of the woods:

“Nightmare Manor” (Ijamsville, MD- 20 minutes away)

  • Open: Fri-Sun 7 am – 10 pm (Now until Oct.)
  • Open on Halloween night
  • $20-30 range admission (Depending on the attraction and number of members in group)
  • Activities include: paintball range, face painting, and a moon bounce, haunted trails

“Field of Screams” (Mountville, PA)

  • Open: every Fri. & Sat. through Sept. 20th and Nov. 2nd from 6:30 – 10:00 pm
  • Open on Halloween night
  • $15-50 range for ticket admission
  • Activities include: Trail of Terror, hayride, and paintball range

Junior and varsity softball player, Madison Ambush, said that the “[Field of Screams] is fun because you get to be really close with friends while going through scary hayrides, and the way that they set it up with costumes and music makes it seem so real.”

“Haunted Nightmares” haunted house (Winchester, MD)

  • Opens on October 4th on Fridays from 7 -10 pm , Saturdays from 1-10 pm, and Sundays from 1-5 pm
  • Open on Halloween night
  • $12 admission

The Renaissance Fair

  • Open: Oct. 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20
  • Main gate opens at 10am
  • $14  admission for teens
  • Entertainment includes: stage acts, shows, music, dancers, street acts, food, and crafts
  • Open rain or shine

Junior Olivia Goldstein visited the Renaissance Fair in September. She said, “It’s a really different event and unique experience because some people go and get all dressed up in character while others just go to people watch. I’ve always wanted to dress up but the costumes are so expensive.”

“The Great Pumpkin Patch” (Old National Pk. Park, Mt. Airy, MD)

  • Open: Oct 12 and 13 from 12-5 pm
  • $5 Admission charge for all ages
  • Activities include: pumpkin picking, hayrides, petting zoo, moon bounce, face painting

Gaver’s Farm Pumpkin Patch (Gaver Tree Farm, Mt. Airy MD)

  • Open: daily through Oct. from 10am-6pm
  • FREE admission
  • 15 acres of pick-your-own pumpkins
  • FREE hayrides on weekends only (run continuously)

“Fall Fun Festival” (Gaver Tree Farm, Mt. Airy, MD)

  • Open: now until Nov. 3 from 10am-6pm daily.
  • $6 admission fee per person on weekdays, $8 admission per person on weekends
  • $25 season pass
  • Activities include: 5 acre corn maze, farm animal arena, jumping pillow

 

Along with some of the activities listed, our student body is also looking forward to homecoming, football, Thanksgiving, and even the colder weather. Bring your friends and make some sweet or spooky memories!
