Lancer Spotlight 4/18: Linganore finishes 7th at Scorpion Invitational

by Nate Reinfurt

The Linganore boys’ track team finished 7th out of 27 scoring teams at the Scorpion Invitational at Oakland Mills High School on April 8.

Although the team did not finish as high on the leaderboard as they wanted to, there were some outstanding individual performances.

One thrower who set a personal best was Senior Logan Rich who finished 1st in the discus throw and 6th in the shot put.

He earned a new personal best of 42 feet and 3.75 inches in the shot put, and a season best in the discuss, with a distance of 138 feet and 3 inches.

“The shot put was not where I wanted to be on the day, but my discus performance was really good. [I] just gotta keep up the performance,” said Rich.

Senior distance runner Kyle Walker finished 2nd in the 800 meter and 3rd in the 1600 meter run for the day.

“Obviously, knowing who I am, I wanted to win both events. But, I feel by the time we are in championship season, I should be able to surpass all of my competitors,” said Walker.

The 4×800 relay team consisted of distance runners junior Aiden Seraton, sophomore Alex Atedolu, senior Nathaniel Lopez-Romero and junior William Griffin. The team finished 5th in the race.

“We did very well considering Liberty put down an insane time, so now it’s just [about] improving until championship season,” said Atedolu.

Lastly, senior high jumper Kelsey Bannon also had a good day, finishing 4th in the high jump.

“High jump went pretty good, but I know I can do better than 5 feet ten inches; 6 foot is definitely in reach,” Bannon said.
