On April 1, The Linganore boys track team finished 6th place out of 22 scoring teams at the 13th Patriot Invitational. Although they were not able to pull out the victory, Linganore showed that they will be a contender for the Frederick County Championships.

There were many highlight performances, including 1st place in the DMR 1200-400-800-1600 race.

Linganore sophomore and distance runner Alex Adetou was pleased with Liganore’s finish.

“Yeah that [Linganore’s win in the event] was huge. We didn’t think we would finish ten seconds ahead of everyone elses” Adetou said.

Senior thrower, Logan Rich also had a standout day, finishing 8th in the shot put and 2nd in the discus. This was an especiably notable accomplishment because Rich had been out with an injury for all of the indoor track season.

“[My places were] Definitely a good way to come back after sitting out Indoor due to injury,” Rich said.

Senior Kyle Walker also had a huge day, earning 1st in both the 800 and the DMR.

“That was my best performance yet. Hopefully, I can keep it up and continue to improve for the next two months. My focus however is on States,” Walker said.

The Linganore track team’s next meet will be April 5 at South Hagerstown High School, as the Lancers face South Hagerstown and Governor Thomas Johnson High School.
