On May 8, 2019, Linganore High School’s Young Life club held their annual Donut Olympics. This event involves games such as a donut toss, donut musical chairs, and a donut catching contest. Club is hosted weekly on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. During club, students typically play games, sing songs, and listen to a brief talk given by a club leader.

Linganore graduate Chris Eckard and his wife Katie lead the local Young Life group, a Christian ministry that reaches out to middle school, high school and college-aged students in the United States as well as more than 90 countries around the world.

“Young Life deeply impacted the trajectory of my life when I was in high school. Now, I take the chance to enjoy life to the fullest, have real conversations, and be back where I grew up,” said Eckard. “Young life gives students a place to be themselves and understand their life and purpose at a deeper level. Also, we have a lot of fun, which makes the club an awesome time.”

“I love Donut Olympics because it combines competition, food, and Young Life, making this my favorite club of the year,” said class of 2021 member Julian Rodriguez.

If you are interested in participating in Young Life, the final club for the 2018-2019 school year will be hosted on May 15, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. See Jacob Bolger, Matthew Gelhard, or Braden Weinel for more information.
