On September 9, the girls cross country team attended the 3rd Annual Rebel Invitational held at South Hagerstown High School.

Although the 3.1 mile course was filled with many difficult twists, turns, and hills, the team proved their practice has been paying off, placing 8th out of 24 schools. The weather at Saturday’s meet was a pleasant change compared to the downpour the girls experienced during the previous weekend’s Zumbach Invitational in Brunswick.

Class of 2019 member Khelsa Connolly said, “The weather is perfect. It’s sunny and not too hot with a nice breeze. It definitely helped us run a faster race.”

Although she was sick, Connolly still posed a major threat to the rest of the competitors. One of the team’s top runners, she finished the race in 22:13, securing her a spot in the top 30.

“I’m not going to let a cold get in the way of an opportunity to improve,” said Connolly.

Senior Hannah Lemen said, “Even though it’s only the second meet, I think our team is looking really strong and I’m excited to see how we improve over the season.”

Next weekend, the girls will be putting their best foot forward at the Hood College Invitational.
