What started off as normal, turned into a day of celebration. On April 21, work study coordinator Mr. Jeremy Brown was recognized at for his outstanding work as a career research and development teacher.  He was surprised with a celebration that included two cakes!

The group that presented the recognition included principal David Kehne, several assistant principals, as well as Kristine Pearl and Eric Haines from FCPS’s central office.

As Brown entered the room, a look of surprise and confusion came over his face. Brown took notice of the balloon that read, “Congratulations,” and confessed that he had no idea what he was being congratulated for.

It was then that news broke, Jeremy Brown was selected for CTE Teacher of the Year. Last week the Advisory Council sifted through roughly fifteen applicants and Brown’s rose to the top.

CTE Supervisor, Kristine Pearl said, “His outreach within the school community is tremendous through SGA and all of the different organizations that he serves as an adviser, and [he] is just a supportive teacher and friend.”

Brown said, ” It’s nice to have the recognition, but it’s not solo. A lot of people work together to make everything happen.”

Mr. Brown will be honored officially at the annual CTE awards ceremony at Walkersville High School on May 4.
