The faculty participants include Mr. Nick Tringali, Mr. Daniel Lake and Mrs. Michelle Richardson. Tringali will be singing and playing the guitar and is performing a duet with Lake. Richardson will be singing.

“The only way that Mrs. Richardson would sing in the talent show is if the dance team performed, too,” said NHS advisor Mrs. Beth Sands.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency that is dedicated to curing cancers of the blood. Their mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Disease and myeloma.

“Our goal is to reach the silver level corporate sponsors for Team in Training,” said Sands. In order to reach a silver level, they must raise a total of $2,500. Based on a previous fund raiser, the National Honor Society earned the bronze level, meaning they raised at least $1,500.

In addition, Sands is participating in Team in Training. In exchange for coaching and training, the organization, raises money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Team in Training is the largest endurance sports training program in the world. They give participants an opportunity to achieve their athletic goals and help find a cure for blood cancer. Participants often have a personal connection, and Sands’ connection is that 10 years ago her father died of Leukemia.

Sands is currently training for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon that is occurring this spring.
