The JV Girls Soccer Team has kicked off the season playing exceptionally well through the first season games and scrimmages.

This year, the first season game played was against Westminster, and the Lancers won 2-0. The second game was against South Carroll, which ended in a tie 0-0. They also tied with Urbana after that, ending with a score 0-0. After playing Thomas Johnson, the LHS Girls JV team brings home another win, with a final score of 3-1.

The captains of the soccer team are Lauren Maggi, Megan Reesman, Brooke Bennett, and Juliana Zeller.

Sophomore player Lourdes Jack said, “My team and I have really connected over the course of the three weeks we have been together, and the bond our team shares makes us a powerful group on the field.”

Defender, Megan Reesman, said, “I think the Girls JV Soccer Team is doing very well so far.  I feel like we’ve really bonded together as a team.”

Reesman is very confident that the team can and will go far in the season, claiming the team has the endurance to win almost all their games, if not, all of them. But winning isn’t everything, Reesman is most excited about having a good season and getting to know the other players on her team.

Paige Pohopin is coaching the Girls JV soccer team, and is actually a returning player, coming back to coach the same team that she played on when she attended Linganore.

Reesman says “She is great at coaching. She knows how to be authoritative while still making it fun to play the sport and be on the team.”

Juliana Zeller, a striker on the team, is determined to score many goals for the defensive players. “We want to reward the defense for their hard work by scoring more goals for them.” She also says that having an undefeated season this year would reward the sophomore players for their hard work on the field last year.

In the 2015 soccer season, the JV team won all of their games except for 2, falling to 12 – 2. This year, the team is coming back to defend their title, pushing for undefeated.
