This is the twelfth story in Lancer Media’s 2015 Summer series: Most Likely to…

These feature stories highlight rising seniors who are becoming role models of Lancer Spirit.

Although you may not know her, one of your cherished memories of LHS will be designed by her.  Rising senior Briana Pettaway will be next year’s yearbook chief editor. Chief editors are expected to make sure the yearbook gets completed precisely and in time for publishing.

“With the help of the other yearbook members, I hope to make a flawless yearbook by the last deadline by staying on top of minor deadlines and coverage,” says Pettaway.

In addition to the Publications class, Pettaway has been active in the theater department for three years.  During her junior year, Pettaway was the right wing head for both the fall play and spring musical.

Wing heads are second in command after the stage manager.  They are responsible for maintaining the atmosphere behind the stage and making sure that the cues are being done efficiently and in a timely manner.

“She understands all of the tasks asked of her and does them well. She knows needs to be done without being asked, unlike others,” says her sister, graduate Amber Pettaway.

Due to her successful year as wing head, Pettaway will return as right wing head during the fall, and stage manager during the spring.

When Pettaway graduates from high school, she wants to attend Antonelli Institute of the Art and Photography and major in graphic design.  Pettaway has extensive knowledge of computer graphics and will take a fourth semester of Computer Graphics next year.

“Computer graphics is like a whole new world when it comes to art.  You can create so many different types of art with just a click of a button,” says Pettaway.  “One of my most successful pieces of art was bought at the art show silent auction.”

“I am so proud of Briana and I cannot wait to see her go farther in life.  She strives to do her best in everything she does, and I love her greatly,” says her father Curtis Pettaway.
