On May 10, Linganore senior Andrew Bailey signed his National Letter of Intent to play soccer for the Wilson College Phoenix.

Wilson College is a Division III school in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Bailey has been a part of Linganore’s soccer program for four years, three of which have been on varsity. Yet, his soccer career began long before then.

Bailey has played the sport for 14 years on many teams including Linganore High School and Alliance Soccer Club.

During this time, he has seen a lot of success on and off the field with Linganore. On the field, he has been awarded Honorable Mention All Conference and was selected team captain for his senior year by his teammates.

Off the field, Bailey has worked extremely hard as well. He suffered a torn ACL that kept him out of soccer for his junior season and forced him to miss the most active season for college soccer recruitment.

However, that did not hold him back during his senior year. Coach Kirk Meehan, the Linganore boys’ soccer head coach described Bailey as “extremely committed” and “the leader of our [Linganore] defense” where he was a key player for the team.

After returning to soccer and playing in many tournaments, Bailey was able to get recruited and spent some time visiting colleges where he ultimately decided on Wilson College as the best fit.

“The people at Wilson really made it feel like home,” Bailey said. “I have a couple friends up there, and I already feel like I belong.”

At Wilson, Bailey plans on majoring in exercise science and hopes to become a physical therapist.

With the school’s great Exercise Science program, Wilson “feels like a really good environment for me,” Bailey said.

Bailey is excited to begin this new chapter at Wilson College where he will play on their soccer team and fulfill his long-time dream of being a college athlete.
