On December 18, Linganore High School hosted the combined Elementary 5th Grade Winter Concert. The concert consisted of 5th grade students from Twin Ridge, Liberty, New Market, and Deer Crossing Elementary Schools. The concert featured both band and chorus students.

The combined band was lead by the conductor, Mr. Christopher Berry, and several conductors student in for Mr. Brian Hinkley who is on leave.. The band was able to play five holiday songs and finished with, “Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah.”

Berry complimented the LHS program. He said, “None of this would be possible without the help of Mr. Lloyd and Mr. Dye. Instead of playing in an elementary school cafeteria, we are playing in Linagnore’s beautiful auditorium.”

Hosting this concert at Linganore is a very effective strategy to get future Lancers familiar with the school and want to continue band or orchestra in the future. After the band was done playing, it was now time for the combined fifth grade chorus to sing. The combined chorus was lead by both Ms. Wagner and Ms. Gearhart and sang six songs.

The chorus did something a little different for the fifth song as they sang, “Mele Kalikimaka” (Merry Christmas in Hawaiian). During this song, Ms.Gearhart played a ukelele donated by the F.A.M.E organization in Frederick.
