Editors Jason and Byrd and Andrew Lyons made a Linganore Playlist of 2018, recapping some of the best songs, artists, and moments in music for 2018. This year, they’re back with a Linganore Playlist of 2019.

As Spotify shows the album covers of the first four songs in a playlist, the first four songs are the most popular with the student body, based on a Google survey.

  1. “Juice” by Lizzo
  2. “Circles” by Post Malone (5 votes)
  3. “GONE, GONE/THANK YOU” by Tyler the Creator
  4. “BOY IS A GUN” by Tyler the Creator

Included in the survey were favorites in each genre:

Most popular genre – Hip-Hop/Rap”

Most popular Country song – “10,000 hours” by dan & shay ft. Justin Bieber

Most popular Hip-Hop/Rap song – “Roxanne” by Arizona Zervas

Most popular Rock song – “Take what you want” by Post Malone

Most popular Pop song- “Bad Guy” by Billie Eillish

2019 was a lot for the music world to take on. We’ve seen many new artists break into the game like Billie Eilish and Lizzo, along with many breakout songs that had everyone dancing and singing along like, “Suge” by Dababy. If you want to listen to the playlist, go to Spotify and find milesjasonbyrd to find this year’s most popular music.

“Lizzo is a queen and all her songs are bops, while Post Malone really changed his music genre on, ‘Circles’. It was a good change of pace and the playlist is overall very diverse,” said Junior Molly Jagger when asked about some of the song selections in the playlist.
