On October 31, the varsity volleyball team played their first playoff game against the South Hagerstown Rebels, whom they had lost against in season 3 – 1.

This time around, the team came out making a statement. They were there to win. Determined and ambitious, they won the game 3 – 0.

The first match of the game came with a victory by the Lancers with a final score of 25 – 21. The team persisted through each point and ended with 9 served aces against the opposing team. Setter and Captain Lauren Ryan served 3 of the 9.

The next two matches had similar outcomes with the Lancers pulling ahead yet again. The final score of the second match was 25 – 23. The final score of the third match was 27 – 25 meaning that the teams went over the regular winning score because they were tied at 25 – 25 when the average game would end.

“One of the reasons that we won was because we hustled for every ball and were determined to keep playing our hardest for every point. I think if we just keep our served in and work on communicating better, we will be set to win region finals,” said Ella McCaffrey.

Ella McCaffrey is the starting right side hitter on the team and has been playing volleyball for 5 years.

According to MaxPreps, the volleyball team is now ranked 37th in the state and has an overall record of thirteen wins and eight losses.

This win for the Lancers sends them into regional finals against the first-seeded Tuscarora Titans which will be on Monday, November 4 at 6:00 at Tuscarora.

Be sure to wish the team luck in their regional match and go to Tuscarora and show support!
