FFA takes home 10 awards at Nationals

Starting on October 29 to November 2, 14 members on 3 teams traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana for the National FFA Convention. All of the students have been practicing for months, and for some even years preparing for these events.

In Parliamentary Procedure the students learn how to run a proper business meeting in a timely fashion. They discuss and debate several motions like issues in the community or chapters(other Parliamnetary Procedure groups), The parlimentary procedure has been working on this event for years. The team has grown together and worked very hard to make sure they perform their best. The team was Sarah Curley, Kelsy Wolfe, Luke Chaney, Tabitha Reeder, Austin Welty, and Abby Kurupas.

The food science team’s hard work paid off this year. As a team, they were awarded bronze. This Career Development Event (CDE) has students learn an in-depth understanding of food product development, presentation, and safety issues. As individuals, Caroline Pellicier and Catherine Amerehin placed silver also Katelyn Iager and Emma Baker placed bronze.

In the event Agriculture Sales, the team placed bronze. Individuals really shined during this event, Ryan Mondonedo placing Gold and  Ricky Cerveny placed silver. Taylor Carbaugh and Haley Welty placed Bronze.

Sarah Curley and Katelyn Iager also attended the Maryland Education Foundation Dinner.

Old Dominion and Brett Young performed at the convention this year, and all the members attended a rodeo. Sarah Curley the chapter president said, “My favorite part is always meeting so many people from different states and getting to walk around the Expo.”
