Wednesday, October 8th  seniors  Drew Gelhardt, Joey Ogg, Chris Platt,  Alex Reinhardt and Riley Wieseckel and junior Tyler Wieseckel woke up at 4 a.m. to get to school at 5 a.m. to watch the total lunar eclipse.

Riley and his friends met in the parking lot to watch the total eclipse. He said, “it was so cool to see the full moon go into a blood red color.”

The full lunar eclipse was visible to anyone watching in North America, western South America, parts of East Asia, Australia and other parts of the Pacific

The color of the moon is dependent on what is happening in the earth’s atmosphere; it’s a combination of dust and ash particles and light refraction.

If you were looking close enough, you may have also seen the planet Uranus near the moon.

This is the second eclipse out of four of the tetrad series.

The next eclipse in the tetrad series is going to start in April 2015, with the final in the tetrad occurring in September 2015.

On October 23, people in North America will have the chance to see a partial solar eclipse.
