Linganore High School (LHS) welcomed nine new teachers and one administrator for the 2025-2026 school year. This includes administrator Kristin Coulehan, who replaced Michelle Gilmore as an assistant principal (AP) for students with last names starting with O-Z.
For Coulehan, being an administrator was not always the goal. Her high school education was chaotic, starting high school in Fort Worth, Texas and ending in Rochester, Minnesota.
Following high school, Coulehan attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison. At that time, she knew she wanted to go into an English or a journalism-related field.
Despite her initial career goals, she found herself working at a daycare for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Philadelphia after college. This led her to finding a career at a private elementary school in Philadelphia. However, she had a desire to work at a public school, so she pursued a Master’s in special education and moved to Maryland to work as a special education teacher at Windsor Knolls Middle School.
Coulehan recognizes the challenges that come with being an administrator, as her path to it was anything but linear. She reflects on the patience needed to advance her education.
“It’s a long journey, but [one] will find out that’s how it is; it’s never a quick journey,” Coulehan said.
Although Coulehan is fond of Linganore, she reminisces on her time as an administrator at Tuscarora High School in Frederick.
“At Tuscarora, I felt like I was needed in many ways, because every kid’s needs are different,” Coulehan said. “I was needed in different ways there. [At Linganore,] I’m still needed, just in different kinds of ways.”
Outside of school, Coulehan loves to read, paint murals and travel. She feels very strongly connected to Linganore’s community. But for her, life always seems to come back to helping others.
“I love [Linganore]. It’s like being home, because this is where my kids went. I really feel like I’m at home again,” Coulehan said. “You really have to have a certain heart to do it, and I just love it.”
Her children, Madeline Sheehy, Ryan Sheehy and Marin Rasmussen and their relationships are a statement of her pride for Linganore. Rasmussen met her future husband, Harry Rasmussen while in her freshman year at LHS. Because of this, Coulehan remains allured to the lancer community.
