On November 8, Trysten Colburn signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Rams at Shepherd University in West Virginia.

Trysten is majoring in sports management which she is very excited about doing at Shepherd.

Colburn began playing basketball when she was 7 years old.Playing for teams and just practicing for recreation has helped her become the amazing player she is now.

She believes that participating in basketball has helped create her leadership skills.”Being part of the Linganore team has helped me learn how to be a good team leader.” Colburn said. She has been a part of the Linganore team for a few years, and part of  “elite” AU teams during her basketball career.

Going to the college level of basketball at Shepherd, “Was mainly because playing basketball is part of the reason why i wanted to go to school.” Colburn said. “It helps me learn to manage my time better.”

Linganore High School girls basketball coach Rachael Easterday said, “Trysten is a very versatile player .”

Playing basketball at Linganore has allowed Colburn to play in different positions and not just one exact position. Two of the positions she has played at Linganore are small forward and shooting guard.

Easterday was very proud of Trysten’s work ethics and team work abilities, “When the Shepherd coach asked me to describe Trysten, all i had to mention was her work ethics and character.” Easterday said. “She was all in.”

Shepherd coaches are very ready for Trysten to join their team and leave an impact on them as soon as she steps on campus. Her positive attitude is going to make her a great learner and leader for her future at Shepherd.

Last year, Colburn helped lead the team to gain a new record at the CMC Championships. Trysten led the Lancers to victory over the Williamsport Wildcats with over 16 points.During her basketball career at Linganore High School, she managed to lead her team to having a 10-0 record.
