On October 17, The Linganore High School girls’ varsity field hockey team participated in a game against Catoctin High School. The game was hosted by Linganore, and the Lancers won with a final score of 1-0.

Even though they were tied by the second quarter, Jordan Zimmerman scored the only point of the game with assistance from Peyton Macannany in the third quarter.

The team members speak highly of one another and their ability to work as a team. Goalie Zoe Theologue has been noticed and praised for her clears and blocks, and the team thinks Emily Bollhorst should be given more recognition for her well-known passes.

“I think we will do great. Our teamwork and how we work together will lead us to success in [the] postseason,” said mid-year varsity addition Madison Wallace.

The game against Catoctin was also Linganore’s Senior Night for varsity field hockey. The seniors’ families presented a quick writing and talked about what each student will be doing after graduation. The players were given flowers after walking the field and meeting their team.

Senior captain Camryn Thompson discussed her feelings about graduating and her experience on the team. “I’m so sad to leave. I’ll miss the coaches so much because they’ve always supported me … I’ll miss the girls because we’ve all become so close, and they’re my best friends,” said Thompson.

The varsity field hockey team’s next game will be away against Francis Scott Key High School. The team hopes to improve upon their record of  6-4-1 by continuing their winning streak.
