Goalkeeping from Urbana saves a Lancer goal.

On September 24, the Lancer girls JV and varsity soccer faced off against Urbana Hawks.  The JV game was a back and forth mostly evenly matched game. Lancers were able to have approximately about 13 shots on goal, including a foul shot during the second half that came close.

We had some good shots on goal, and so did they, but both goalies played really efficiently. We need to focus on our shots more.

The game continued back and forth with hard efforts from both sides.  The game ended in a draw 0-0. Catherine Bower and Melanie Barger were out for injury and sickness. Some of the players believed they had a higher chance of winning had these players been there.  Due to varsity starting right after the game, the JV contest could not go into overtime.

The Varsity girls also didn’t have any luck during their game. Within the first two minutes, Urbana scored on the Lancers. This seemed to set the tone for the rest of the game as the girls fought hard against the Hawks. There were some close shots on Urbana’s goal, including a header by Bailey Bennett and close shots from Madyson Hill and Josie Beezel. The final score was 3 to 0 with a loss for Linganore.

JV and Varsity both have a home game on September 26 against Thomas Johnson. JV starts at 5:30pm and Varsity at 7.
