On April 14, LHS Safe and Sane held its annual Drive 4 UR School fundraiser. This event is held in partnership with Century Ford of Mount Airy every year to raise money for the graduating class. For every car taken on a valid test drive, Ford donates $20 to LHS Safe and Sane, up to $8000. This year LHS had around 200 people participate and raised about $5500 from the event.

The Drive 4 UR School campaign was started in 2007 by Ford to give back to local schools and communities. LHS began participating in Drive 4 UR School in 2008 and has since raised thousands of dollars.

The money raised from Drive 4 UR School goes to games, activities and food for the graduation after party, Safe and Sane. Safe and Sane is a celebration majority of seniors partake in and really look forward to. Brooke Bennett, 2017 Linganore graduate test drove a car Sunday. She said, “When I heard that Drive 4 UR School was this weekend I was more than happy to come test drive a car. It’s such a simple thing that raises so much money for Safe and Sane. Safe and Sane was probably one of the most memorable nights of my life. I’m glad Linganore offers something like this to seniors and now as a graduate I can still help out.”

Among those who participated was mother of four current and past Linganore Students, Jen Weinel. She said, “I participated because Century Ford has been supporting Linganore Safe and Sane for years and it is an easy and quick way to raise money for the program. I am very glad that Linganore has a safe and Sane program, all of my children have participated!”
