For most, summer means pool, lake, and beach days. What could make a summer day more exciting than a refreshing smoothie?

Smoothies taste great, are easy to make, and, most importantly, are a nutritious snack. Smoothies made with fresh fruit and vegetables will give you fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Here are two smoothie recipes we tested at Lancer Media Kitchen.

Braden Weinel, member of the Class of 2020 said “I thought the strawberry banana smoothie was better because the tropical smoothie was kind of strange.”

The Classic Strawberry-Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:

  1. Frozen strawberries
  2. Frozen bananas
  3. Vanilla yogurt
  4. Milk (can be substituted with almond milk)
  5. Ice
  6. Honey (optional)

Steps to create the perfect smoothie:

  1. Fill a blender with frozen strawberries, fresh bananas, milk (any kind), a cup of vanilla yogurt, ice, and some honey to sweeten if needed.
  2. Blend until the ingredients have completely liquified.
  3. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Tropical and Tangy Smoothie

Ingredients:

  1. Frozen mango chunks
  2. Frozen strawberries
  3. Fresh pineapple chunks
  4. V8 Splash
  5. Orange juice
  6. Plain Greek yogurt
  7. Honey (optional)

How to create this tasty treat:

  1. Fill a blender with frozen mango chunks, frozen strawberries, fresh pineapple chunks, V8 Splash juice (any kind), a cup of plain Greek yogurt, orange juice, and some honey to sweeten if needed.

In the Lancer Media taste test, both smoothies were favorite.
