Going into district competition, the Linganore Golf is 7-1. Based on their performance throughout September, the team has a good chance of walking away with first place.

On September 11, golf won against South Hagerstown 176-219. Ryan McFadden, Class of 2019 was a medalist with a score of 37. Before this match, the team had many wins including Middletown, North Hagerstown, Frederick, and Tuscarora. The only loss this season was to Urbana, 151-169.

“The season so far has been a success, not only for myself but as a team. We are now 7-1 only losing to Urbana which was a tough one, but they are a good team. We plan to make states and try to win Counties and the CMC’s.” said Vince Booth, Class of 2020.

Booth’s performance last year was strong and helped the team finish third last year at Districts.

Practice this year has been a big part of their success, working five days a week at PB Dye Golf Club in Ijamsville, MD.

This year’s leading scorer McFadden said,  “I like to help my teammates out at practice and push them to practice even on days when practice is not scheduled.”

Senior McFadden finished  third at state competition last year and won in 2016.

He also won the CMC championship last year, he shot 70.  McFadden played on the youth circuit for several years.

Assistant Coach Blaine W. Smith said, “The golf team, although individually competitive, has come together as a true team under Captain Ryan McFadden and new head coach Justin Keith, with a balanced emphasis on practice, etiquette, humility, and desire.”

Linganore plays Districts at Oakmont Green Golf course in Hampstead, MD on September 25. The match begins at 7:15 a.m.
