Dalton Pearl wrestles against Catoctin wrestler

On January 4,  the wrestling team, coached by Pete Riley and Ben Arneson, pinned their way to a victory against Catoctin High School.

With an almost full squad in the 14 weight classes, the advantage was in the Lancer’s favor. The smaller team, Catoctin wrestled hard but came up short.

Catoctin forfeited five of the fourteen matches of the night. Wrestlers Ryan Jongezoon (285), Earl Blake (126) and Aidan Flint (120) won their matches.

Assistant Coach Tim Miller said, “Our team has big goals, but we still need to work hard in the wrestling room and weight room to get better. Having a big team also helps.”

Former Urbana head coach and three-time Frederick County Champion in high school,  LHS graduate Ben Arneson is now coaching the Lancers and hopes to make the team see their full potential.

Last year Class of 2019 member Earl Blake placed second in states and is now working his way to be the best that he can and perhaps reach his goal of being number one in the state.

The teams next matches include, a tri-match against Northwest and Clarksburg High School January 7th at Linganore, and a match against Middletown High School away at Middletown.
