On March 4, 2017, twelve of Linganore’s senior gentlemen will be competing for the prestigious title of Mr. Linganore. To prepare for this competition, the boys and their partners are learning several dances, including the waltz and the classic “It’s Raining Men” routine.

The theme of the 18th annual event is “A Royal Affair.”  The contestants are choosing to portray a royal figure–fictional or historical.

The participants include Harry Rasmussen, Kyle Austin, Lincoln Robisch, Jac Medve, Nick Bennett, Spencer Young, Jacob Frey, Andrew Livioco, Pat Finch, Tyson Tregoing, Anthony Sparacino and Garrett Wiehler.  The 12 have bought or borrowed leather-soled shoes and their initial slipping and sliding has transformed into!  Mrs. Linda Gouker, retired FCPS physical education teacher and dance instructor, has choreographed the dance.

For many Mr. Linganore is more than a chance to compete. The guys make new friends and learn new skills–few have formally learned to dance before today.

“It’s really fun being able to learn a new skill. I’ve always wanted to learn to dance, and now this is a chance to,” said Ines Garofolo, Jacob Frey’s dance partner and escort.

The proceeds of the charity event will go to the Academic Awards Program.
