On October 9, the Little Lancers preschool program started up for the fall semester. The program is led by students in the child development classes, under the supervision of Mrs. Kate Lane.

There are 15 children in the class, all age 3 or 4. The preschoolers arrive at the beginning of second block and leave at the end of third block, before third lunch starts, attending every day except Friday.

The theme for this week is ABCs, 123s, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. The main focus of the first week is to teach the basics and determine where the children are as far as kindergarten readiness.

Today, the class did an introduction, went over the alphabet, practiced writing letters and practiced counting.

To prepare for the littlest Lancers, the students in child development create lesson plans and set up the different centers in the classroom, including the math, cooking, art and science centers.

“Today went great! The children came excited and ready to learn.” said Sophia Posada, Child Development III.
