Lancers football team lines up on the sideline at Friday’s game

The varsity football team beat the Hawks at Urbana High School with a score of 24-21 in overtime on Friday.

In one of the most eventful games of the season, the game was scoreless in the first quarter, tied 7-7 at the half, and went into overtime as both teams were tied with a score of 21-21.

In overtime, class of 2017 member Anthony Sparacino scored a 28 yard field goal, bringing the score to 24-21. Hawks then fumbled the ball, and the game ended with a victory for the Lancers.

Sophomore Cody Hubert was injured during the game and was lifted out in a helicopter. Both teams took a knee in respect, and Lancers have said their win was “for Cody.”

This win will propel the Lancers to a 7-3 finish and post-season play.
