On November 10th, the varsity cheerleaders competed at the Maryland State Championship and won taking second place. The competition was held at Harford Community College. The team competed against 20 other teams and beat 18 at their last competition of the season.

They lost by .5 to Arundel High School.

“It was a hard loss. Our coach, Jan Ingram, was disappointed that we didn’t win, but she wasn’t disappointed in us. This is her last year coaching, and we wanted to make her proud,” said Sierra Bennett, Class of 2018 cheerleader.

Even with the second place finish, the Linganore cheerleaders had no deductions.

The cheer team has a winning tradition in Frederick County, taking first in county competition several times in the past few years. Last year, they placed second at States also.
