On October 7th, Linganore had its first pep rally to celebrate fall sports and academic teams and to celebrate the culmination of spirit week.

Jeremy Brown, LHS work study coordinator and advisor to the SGA, recognized fall sports teams, including JV football, field hockey, soccer, and more.

The pep rally began with the choir singing the national anthem. They were followed by the JV cheer squad who performed their routine for the school.

“I liked showing our school spirit and getting the whole crowd pumped up for homecoming,” said Grace Gaydosh, JV cheer member.

The 2016 Homecoming court also made an appearance, playing “Stop, Drop, and Find a Yoga Ball.” Class of 2020 Princess Maya Davies won the game for her class.

The court includes Class of 2020 Maya Davies and Vince Booth, Class of 2019 Shay Arneson and Dominic Barbagallo, Class of 2018 Marie Tapscott and Kenny McQuay, and Class of 2017 Grace Weaver, Garrett Wielher, Naomi Conaway, Duncan Zeller, Harry Rasmussen, Lexi Watson, Tara Jordan, and Brandon Cooper.

The color guard performed the first movement of their show, “The Twilight Zone.”

Guard member Caitlyn Cook said afterwards, “I’m shaking. I’m so proud. During the performance I was so nervous I thought my legs would shut down.”

The Varsity Cheer team and LHS Poms squad also performed.

At the end of the rally, Brown announced the class rankings for spirit week. In fourth place was the Class of 2019. In third place was the Class of 2020. The Class of 2018 was awarded second place and, of course, the senior Class of 2017 was awarded first place.
The Homecoming football game will be held on October 7th beginning at 5:30pm. The Homecoming Dance will be held from 7pm to 10pm on October 8th.
