Class of 2019– People you need to know: Mr. Aaron Burch, social studies
The Lance interviewed Social Studies Department Chairperson Mr. Aaron Burch as part of the 54 Questions feature. Burch teaches both merit and honors American Government.
Why should ninth graders know Mr. Burch?
It is important to know him because all freshmen take Government in their first year of high school. Burch has been teaching for 13 years and is well known throughout the school for his love of cats and freezing cold classrooms and his hatred of musicals and crabs.
Burch is from Pittsburgh making him a big Steelers’ fan, as most students can tell from the many posters in his classroom.
When asked about his favorite part of teaching, Burch said, “The kids are a lot of fun, and I get to turn them over [to their parents] at the end of the day. It’s the best kind of kids to have.”
His advice to freshmen joining his class next year is to, “Bring a blanket; bring an open mind; and be ready to participate.” He also advises students to just be “awesome” every day.
So if you hate the heat and love The Walking Dead, then you’re bound to enjoy Mr. Burch’s class.
