The Linganore Lancers dominated on Friday evening, September 26 when they posted a 35-0 shutout against the Walkersville Lions before a standing room only Homecoming crowd.
Linganore set the tempo on both sides of the ball throughout the early stages of the game. The offense continued to keep the chains moving thanks to the play of Seniors Bradly Matthews and Chase Perry, who extended drives throughout the entire evening. Although neither scored individually, they helped to sustain Linganore’s tempo-based offensive attack.
Walkersville attempted to create a comeback by launching a series of screen passes and inside runs, but Linganore’s line remained firm. The Lancers piled up a series of three and outs and capitalized on short fields to build their Score advantage against Walkerville.
The energy in the stands matched the intensity on the field.
“Our student section was louder than I’ve ever heard it,” Jake Brown said. “It felt like the whole stadium was shaking every time the defense made a stop.”
Junior Hayden Jarels added, “You could tell the team was locked in, they didn’t let up once.” As the clock wound down to its final moments the student section erupted into cheers waving flags and crying out “Lancers! Lancers!” under the stadium lights.
With their homecoming win at Walkersville, Linganore moved to 4-0 on the year.
The Lancers will attempt to keep their win streak alive next week as they host the Frederick Cadets on October 3.
