Mason attacks the rim and draws a hard foul as he glides through the lane and extends to the rim, 2 free throws coming up for the young stud in his season opener.

Mason Porter, member of Class of 2022, is an outstanding athlete and student. Porter plays for the junior varsity basketball team, has a 4.0 GPA, and was named captain of the basketball team.

Porter has played for the CBSA Hoyas AAU team for 3 years, which is one of the top club teams in Frederick. 

As a taller point guard in basketball, Porter is a skilled shooter and rebounder and has many opportunities to score in the paint. He racked up a total of 15 points on Tuesday, December 10 vs Oakdale High School. 

Coach Wilkerson, the head coach for the JV basketball team, said, “Mason plays with such confidence but also humbless, he never gets to high or low and he is always calm coming in clutch situations.”

Porter is looking forward to this year’s season and improving his skills for next year to become a member of the varsity team, Porter said, “I want to help my team win as much as possible, last year we had a pretty average season but with the guys we have now we could definitely make an impact this year. I take all these games and practices as a way of getting better and preparing myself for the next level in playing varsity next year.”

Porter has also been involved in many open gym session for the varsity basketball team and is included socially with the older kids on the varsity team.

At school, Porter participates in many clubs and exceeds expectations in his academic work. He maintains a 4.0 GPA and is looking forward to keeping the same way and making his parents proud.
