On September 25, the girls varsity volleyball lost to the Oakdale bears, 3-0.

During the first period of play, varsity struggled and was not able to return the ball back into play. The girls continued to battle through each and every play, but their rhythm was off.

Lauren Ryan had strong serves into play, winning the first 3 straight points. However, it wasn’t enough, and Linganore dropped the first period 17-25.

The second period began with the girls showing flashes of potential. They started conducting more plays and working together as a team. Emma France helped her team by repeatedly spiking the ball into rival territory.  The team became more efficient, but the second period ended with Linganore down 19-25.

Throughout the third period of the game, the team began to slow down. Oakdale exploited Linganore’s rough play and started to pull away in the period. Linganore played with effort down the stretch, with Julia Gladhill and Grace Coccagna making tough saves throughout the period. Unfortunately, they lost the 3rd and final period with a score of 17-25.

Varsity’s overall record is now 4-5-2.

Amanda Cook said,  “I think we could have done better because we made a lot of our own errors that could have put us closer to the win.”

Their next game set for September 27 at Governor Thomas Johnson High School. JV begins at 5:30 p.m.,and varsity will begin at 7:00 p.m.
