On October 23, the JV Volleyball team fell to Catoctin with a score of 1-2.

The team started the first set off slowly, down 3-6. The girls quickly battled back and were able to take the lead. Energy was flying high as Captain, Jessica Young, had many forceful serves into play. With the support from the entire team, JV finished the first set with a score of 25-19.

Much like the first, the second set began relatively slow. Catoctin was in a groove and managed to score 19 points and limit Linganore to 6, but this did not shut down the JV team. Determined, the team was able to score 11 more points, with 9 serves in a row by sophomore Kylie Krotz. Despite their best efforts, Linganore downed the second set 17-25.

The tension entering the third set was elevated, as both teams had won a set. Linganore was able to take the pressure that Catoctin was feeling and use it to their advantage. They started the third set strong, with a score of 9-1. Though the JV team had a strong lead, Catoctin took a timeout, collected themselves, and managed to pull ahead and tie the score 11-11. The teams brawled for the remainder of the set, but Catoctin was able to win the third, and final, set with a score of 14-16.

Jess Young said, “I believe our team played well together. We just need to work on the little things to make everything come together in the end.”

JV’s record is now 6-7.

Their next game will be October 27 at Smithsburg High School. The JV game will begin at 5:30 and the varsity game will begin at 6:45. This will be JV’s last game of the season.
