Journalism Fantasy Football face-off

Journalism+Fantasy+Football+face-off

by Christian Nolan and Jason Byrd

The NFL football season has 13 more weeks to go. It just begun and along with it, Fantasy Football. Two sports editors decided to go head-to-head in a Fantasy Football contest to see who is the best at drafting key players. Only time will tell to see who gets bragging rights.

WR- DeAndre Hopkins, HOU

Team Nolan is the most superior team compared to Team Byrd because of the dominant Offense-Defense combo. Having the G.O.A.T´s Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, the dynamic-duo, and the defending champs Defense (Eagles), the points will just rack up in Team Nolan´s favor. Former OROY (Offensive Rookie Of the Year) Todd Gurley II and Antonio Brown, cover of Madden 19, make an unstoppable force and a nightmare when it comes to Fantasy Football. These players are bound to take home a Fantasy Football championship.

Jason Byrd´s team

QB- Drew Brees, NO

RB- Alvin Kamara, NO

RB- Ezekiel Elliott, Dal

WR- Julio Jones, Atl

WR- Michael Thomas, NO

TE- Zach Ertz, Phi

FLEX- Tyreek Hill, KC

QB- Aaron Rodgers, GB

RB- Kareem Hunt, KC

RB- Melvin Gordon, LAC

RB- David Johnson, ARI

WR- A.J. Green, CIN

TE- Jordan Reed, WAS

D/ST- Vikings, MIN

Team Byrd will crush Team Nolan because of our great leaders at quarterback. Drew Brees is the best fantasy quarterback to have and has been for about five years. Aaron Rodgers always plays hard each week, providing very packed stats which then leads to a bunch of fantasy points. And with a running back roster that Team Byrd contains, the only issue is who to play. Melvin Gordon has had 30 points in Week 1 and 2 but Kareem Hunt and Ezekiel Elliott both gain points through the run and off of many passes caught. Wide receiver Julio Jones and A.J. Green are a dominant force. Both are top 5 in the league at their position. With a huge depth at every position, there is no question Team Byrd will be number 1 and win the championship.

Team Nolan and Team Byrd’s matchup for Week 1 was simmed and concluded with Team Nolan taking the win. Tom Brady, Todd Gurley II, Antonio Brown, and Rob Gronkowski combined for 92.6 points out of 178.2 points. However, Team Byrd came back in Week 2 delivering a 155.9-117.5 blowout against Team Nolan. Team Byrd´s key players included; Michael Thomas, Zach Ertz, and Tyreek Hill which combined for 71.3 points. Now both teams sit at 1-1, wondering who will take Week 3 and sit in a lead.

Team Nolan had a rough Week 2 with Rob Gronkowski only producing 3.5 points, Greg Zuerlein not kicking a single field goal which also doesn´t get a single point, and the defending champs losing 27-21 gave them 3 points. Week 3 is when Team Nolan needs its players to step up and produce points.

Team Byrd, although he did pick up a Week 2 win, needs some minor tweaking. Alvin Kamara put up 17.6 but did struggle for most of the game against the Cleveland Browns. Julio Jones was limited to 11.2 points. For Team Jason to earn a Week 3 win and move to 2-1, he needs to keep an eye on the running backs to see which will perform the best on Sunday. He also might need to bench Jones this week, as he has a difficult matchup against the New Orleans Saints and is questionable. With his status as questionable, he may underperform as he did last week. A.J. will take his place and will hopefully create and produce.
