Edgewood vs. Linganore

After a monster win at Archbishop Curley, the varsity football team went right back to work this week to play Edgewood in their first home game of the season. Although, this game will be more challenging than Week 1. Edgewood’s cornerback Deonte Banks is the player to focus on in the game. Banks is going to UMD on a full-ride scholarship. Whether he’s a running back, a wide receiver, or even quarterback, Banks is a serious threat.

“We just have to execute our normal plan; keep doing what works and learn from what doesn’t,” said senior lineman Tre Briscoe.

Last season, varsity did beat Edgewood 36-0. And although Edgewood has the Maryland recruit, they still don’t outmatch LHS. With Ryan Leyh at quarterback commanding an outstanding, athletic offense and a defense that is arguably the best in the county, Linganore should have this victory in the end.

“The offense can’t really be stopped. All of our running backs are strong and the line is incredible. We just have to create a productive drive every time,” said running back Davon Butler.

The game will kickoff at 7:00 pm, with a black-out theme. To keep track of the game, follow @linganorefb and sports editor @Jason_Byrd2021@LHSJournalism will be covering the team all season.
