On October 1 the boys soccer team took on South Hagerstown High School with the hopes to win their first game of the regular season. They came away triumphant, 2-0.

The team entered the game with a record of 1-7, with their one win coming from a preseason tournament game against Oakdale High School.

The Lancers came out strong against the Rebels, controlling the game by keeping the ball for most of the first half.

“We had good connections and looked for the right passes,” said junior winger Colin Choudhary.

The first goal of the game came in the ninth minute when senior captain Lukas Snyder slotted a penalty kick in the bottom right corner. The first half ended 1-0.

Late in the second half, Snyder scored another penalty kick to extend the Lancers’ lead to two goals. Snyder didn’t just help the team by scoring goals, however. Payton Ford and Lukas Snyder led the defense to a clean sheet by only allowing three shots in the second half.

“We communicated well on defense which denied the other team the chance to score,” said centre-back Ford.

The team will host the Urbana Hawks on Oct 4 at 7:00 p.m.  Expect a close match.
