Class of 2018 Bright Futures: Sarah Hall engineers a future at UMD

Sarah Hall has always wanted to go to the University of Maryland. Her dad would always take her to sporting events at the college, and she decided to attend following a visit her junior year.

“After college I want to become an engineer for the military and work for the Department of Defense,” said Hall, who plans to major in mechanical engineering. Hall is finishing her last class in the PTLW series.

“I’m looking forward to meeting a whole bunch of new people and just college in general. I had a lot of fun in high school, but college will be a whole new experience,” said Hall.

“Mrs. Purgason has definitely been a role model for me because I had her for calculus last year, and this year as an SSL, but she is someone who I can go to for advice and she is always in a good mood, ready to help anyone and everyone,” said Sarah.

I’d like to really thank my parents because they have definitely taught me everything that I know and have shaped me to become the person that I am today,” said Hall.

“When Sarah came to school for the first time in 9th grade, I remember being excited because I had taught both of her parents. Now I look at Sarah just wondering where four years went. It seemed like just yesterday that she got here and now she’s graduating,” said Mrs. Rebetsky.

Sarah plans to join plenty of clubs at Maryland, including the dance team.

“I’ve really just loved all of the school events like the school dances and football games that I’ve gone to and just been able to hang out with all of my friends. I think that I’ll miss that the most after graduation,” said Hall.
