Class of 2018 Bright Futures: Alex Tran secures his future at The University of Maryland

Alex Tran chose to attend the University of Maryland at College Park because he enjoyed visiting the campus and the wonderful opportunities the school offers for computer engineering majors.

Tran plans to focus on cyber security.

“I plan to help prevent cyber attacks and strengthen online security. I also would like to continue writing music,” said Tran.

Tran hopes to have the opportunity to immerse himself into his personal projects both musical and technical while at Maryland.

“The math and algorithms for this career are very complex, but I just need to remain focused and keep the end goal in mind for myself,” said Tran.

Tran plans to turn to fellow classmates or a study group whenever he runs into an issue with a class or homework.

“Mr. Hahn was the teacher who pushed my limits and forced me to challenge myself with some of the most difficult material,” said Tran.

Tran plans to continue to play tennis while at Maryland as well as writing and producing music in his free time.

“I want to thank my parents who have helped me to become a more active learner and have built my study habits,” said Tran.
