LHSsees2020: Karly Johnson and Kwabena Boampong have the eye of the tiger

Karly and Kwabena (Kobe) are headed to Towson!

Seniors Karly Johnson and Kwabena (Kobe) Boampong have their sights set on Maryland’s tiger den: Towson University.

“I started out with eight colleges. When you go to a college, you get a sense of feeling like I know I want to be here,” said Boampong. “The atmosphere that Towson has is the kind of school that I have always hoped to go to. It also has that balance of academic integrity and social, social clubs, organizations I’m interested in.”

Boampong plans to major in International studies in order to achieve his dream of becoming an ambassador for the United Nations.

“I’m going to hopefully travel to West Africa because that I were I am from. I want to help out with humanitarian efforts and learn the cultural differences and ways of life,” explains Boampong.

Johnson, on the other hand, will be majoring in nursing.

Agreeing with Boampong, she said that she got “the feeling” upon her arrival to Towson, as well.

“I visited two colleges, but when I visited Towson, I knew. I knew that it was the college for me,” Johnson said.

Both said that the most exciting part of moving to the next part of their life will be the independence.

“I’m looking forward to starting a life on my own. I’m going to be able to take on my own responsibilities and make my own decisions. I can’t wait,” said Johnson.

Boampong agreed, saying, “I’m mostly looking forward to being on my own. I’ve been with my family for 17 years, and now this is my time to show them that I am responsible. ‘I know it’s a big step, but you don’t have to be worried because you did your job, and now I’m ready to move on and start a new chapter in my life.’”

Best of luck to these terrific tigers!
