The National Institute of Standards and Technology annually awards teachers from different counties with the Sigma Xi Outstanding Teacher Award. This year they would like to congratulate Mr. Christopher Hahn, physics teacher.  His reaction was pleased but rather surprised by the achievement. The PTSA celebrated with cake and congratulations on Wednesday, June 10.

The certificate recognized him for “exceptional contributions to science education.”

Dr. Jonathan E. Seppala, NIST Sigma Xi Education Chair, said, “Mr. Hahn’s nomination was submitted by me after learning about him from one of the Frederick County Schools STEM coordinators. All of the outstanding teachers have a few common traits: engagement with the students, hands-on activities, and contributions to the school system or education outside of the classroom. Mr. Hahn’s active reviewing and inclusion of current research literature in his curriculum set him apart from other nominees.
