Donate blood during summer shortage

by Lancer Media Staff

The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at LHS on Wednesday, July 22.

The drive is sponsored by the Student Government Association and is being coordinated by LHS senior Noah Ismael.

“Summer is a time when donations are low because school is out and families are on vacation,” said Ismael. “Someone in the United States will need blood every two seconds, so we need to make an extra push for donations in the summer. That’s why we’re holding a summer blood drive here at LHS.”

Donations are being scheduled from 2 p.m. in the afternoon to 7:30 p.m. in the evening. Any person who is 16 years or older and meets height and weight requirements may donate. In addition, students who are 16 or 17 must fill out a parental consent form, available for download here.

To sign up to donate, contact Noah Ismael by phone or text message at 401-LANCER-1 (401-526-2371). He can also be contacted by email at [email protected]. Walk-ins are also accepted.

“We want to make our event a big one,” said Ismael. “So if you or someone you know is able to donate, please consider signing up as a donor! It’s a quick and easy way to save not just one, but up to three lives.”
