For many Linganore High School (LHS) athletes, the hard work has paid off. On February 4, Linganore athlete Chase Perry signed his National Letter of Intent to University of North Carolina Asheville to compete at the Division 1 level, where he will continue to grow in his baseball career.
For Perry the decision of what school to attend came down to trust and loyalty.
“The loyalty the head coach had to me,” he said, explaining why UNC Asheville felt like the right fit. This relationship between him and the head coach helped solidify his commitment to the Bulldogs and continue his baseball career at the collegiate level.
While baseball remains a major focus for Perry, he looks to keep his priorities balanced.
“I try to put academics first,” Perry said. “Sometimes it gets hard, but I always try to finish my academics before any athletics.”
Looking towards the future, he hopes to pursue professional baseball and reach the MLB, but he has plans beyond the field as well.
“I want to try to go to the MLB, but if not, I want to be a real estate agent,” Perry said.
Perry has been playing baseball for about 13 years, with all four of his high school years as a varsity starter. He believes that Linganore has set a standard for him and helped him to feel prepared for his college experience.
“I feel like it’s a mini college, because all the coaches kind of hold you to a standard to where you have to be ready to play college ball.” Perry said.
There have been many motivators that have helped push him to his highest potential, his family was a big area of support in his life. He also receives motivation from his coaches.
“When it comes to Linganore, definitely coach [Rick] Conner[is a great motivator],” Perry said.
Linganore varsity baseball head coach, Bryan Oliver, shared his opinion of Chase over the past 4 years.

“Chase is a fierce competitor, and he’s a great leader.” Oliver said. “Chase Perry is what I refer to as an ‘athlete pedigree’.” As Oliver spoke about Perry during the Singing Day Ceremony.
Perry’s favorite Memories over his athletic career came in the prior 2024-2025 season when the Lancers were 4-8 over the season and made “a run in the play-offs last year, when we weren’t the greatest,” Perry said.
As he transitions to college Perry’s family will miss going to his games and cheering from the stands. Perry’s mom Christine Perry said she can’t even pick one memory of his athletics career that is her favorite: “I can’t summarize, just every game.”
From his work ethic, leadership skills and overall attitude, the loss of Chase Perry will leave a major hole in the Linganore baseball team. However, Perry will be taking these skills with him to UNC Asheville.
“They are gonna get not only a great young man, they’re gonna get a great competitor, a great student athlete, and they are gonna get a great family,” Oliver said.
