On November 8, Georgia Sible signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her soccer career at Lock Haven University, located in North Central Pennsylvania. The LHU Bald Eagles are a Division ll school that competes in the PSAC conference.
Sible has been playing soccer for 14 years. From recreational, club and academy-level teams, she has developed a variety of experiences and skills that has readied her for this next level of her athletic career.
Sible has been a part of Linganore girls soccer for four years and all of those years were on the varsity team. Sible has also been a captain for two years, demonstrating her leadership and encouragement of her teammates.
She has been a key factor in the success of Linganore girls’ varsity soccer for the last four years, leading the Lancers to three regional finals.
Linganore girls soccer coach Mike Heller had nothing but positive words to describe Sible.
“There is no situation that Georgia cannot handle,” Heller said. “She is a steady presence in our backline and of such value to any team.”
These characteristics are what have earned her an all-county honorable mention award, a second-team all-county award and a first-team all-county award throughout her high school playing career.
In addition to many Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) achievements, Sible has also been awarded Linganore’s Defender of the Year trophy for the last two seasons.
Despite her tremendous success on the field, Sible was not always set on continuing her soccer career in college. While she communicated with a couple of schools, nothing felt like quite the right fit.
“It was quite a process, from tournaments to visiting schools and talking to different coaches,” said Sible’s mother, Laurie Sible.
Georgia Sible reported she was not in a rush to commit to any college.
“I wanted to find the right fit for me: a smaller school that was close to home, had a welcoming soccer team and the major that I was interested in,” Sible said.
Fortunately, Sible found all of those qualities in Lock Haven University.
“The coach reached out, I took a tour of the campus, and I just fell in love with the environment,” Sible said.
Next fall at Lock Haven, Sible intends on majoring in Sports Management, and she is still figuring out what she will do with that degree after college.
