Seniors Kaley Henyon, Colleen Avila, Shelby Tkacik, Jill Kolear, Sean Butehorn and Sarah Brady pose for only 11 days until graduation.

May 7th marks the last eleven days of high school for seniors, and the seniors in National Art Honor Society are ready for summer. Fourteen seniors are active members in NAHS.

The National Art Honor Society is a group that does community service through various art projects and experiences including the art show, painting nights and slime night.

NAHS adviser Georgia Geisser said, “They are a very tight‒knit group. They are all really close friends. This is the first time that has happened.”

Co‒President Colleen Avila plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis and will double major in visual arts and neuroscience. Avila is a part of a program called Beyond Boundaries at Washington University to facilitate disciplinary studies.

Other Co‒President Shelby Tkacik plans to attend Northeastern or Temple College. She does not plan to major in art, but she will be talking a few different types of art classes.

“I think the most memorable part of being a member in the art honor society is probably the friends that I have made through clubs that I have joined, and I’ve became a lot closer with all my friends because of it,” Tkacik said.

Students who are eligible to join are art students that have maintained a B average in art classes and will have completed four art classes by the time they graduate.

Congratulations to seniors in the NAHS that are graduating.
