Tre Briscoe is known for his size and strength mowing down the competition on the football field. The future Shepherd University Ram is now tackling the Mr. Linganore competition, a male beauty pageant on March 9 at 7:00 p.m.

Briscoe decided to enter the competition after seeing the past three performances. He will be taking part as the character, Prince T’Challa, otherwise known as, The Black Panther. T’Challa and Briscoe have many similarities including perseverance and protective instincts. Just as the Black Panther protects his nation and his people, Briscoe protects his fellow teammates on the turf.

For Mr. Linganore, each contestant must select a manager and an escort. Briscoe chose to be escorted by Sam Everett and is managed by Cole Lee. Throughout each of the lunch time competitions, Jacob Bolger will also be helping by assisting him in cake decorating, writing sweetheart letters, and building a gumdrop tower. These early contests are his strategy for taking the lead.

“He’s definitely going to do well. I’ve enjoyed shopping for his costumes and watching him practice his skit. His act is really funny so I think it could win him the competition,” said Lee.

Mr. Linganore opens with an introduction in which each contestant portrays a famous character that they believe could represent them throughout the show. Like a beauty pageant, the show consists of scored portions such as talent, dress, and question/answer.

“If I won Mr. Linganore, it’d definitely cap off my high school career and would be the last major thing I was a part of,” said Briscoe.

After high school, Briscoe plans to major in sports marketing because he wants to incorporate his love for sports with an aspect of business. Before he goes off to college, however, Briscoe wants to end his high school journey with a bang.

This male beauty pageant can be as much fund for the contestants as the audience. Briscoe’s favorite part of the competition so far is being able to be around many of his friends and other contestants while they all work towards their goals.

“I think we all have an equal chance at winning. I think that putting myself out there and promoting myself will give me the upper hand,” said Briscoe when asked about his chances of winning.

Come out to support Briscoe and all the other contestants at Mr. Linganore on March 9 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available from either the contestants or at the door.
