Banned Books Week is intended as a reminder not to take one of our most important freedoms for granted—the freedom to read and explore many points of view. Part of living in a democracy means respecting each other’s differences and the right of all people to choose for themselves what they will read and think. Free people read freely! Stop by the Learning Commons and exercise your right to READ.

During September teachers and staff have worn purple to support Frederick County Goes Purple. This initiative is being done to unify the community and reduce substance related deaths and overdoses. Did you know that four out five people who use heroin started with recreational use of prescription painkillers and that last year there were 279 non-fatal and 55 fatal opioid-related overdoses that occurred in Frederick County. We need to work together to stop this epidemic in our community.
